Introducing The Land Rover Defender 130

2023 Land Rover Defender

The Land Rover Defender seating capacity expands with the introduction of the new 130 model. With seating for up to eight and a much larger cargo area, it’s bound to be a hit with adventurous families.

Although the Defender 130 sits on the same 118.9-inch wheelbase as the Defender 110, the 130 model is thirteen inches longer from end to end. As a result, it doesn’t just offer more passenger space. This new model also provides much more cargo space behind the Land Rover Defender’s third row!

Land Rover Defender Seating Capacity: 8 Seats for the 130

The Land Rover Defender seating capacity was previously capped at seven passengers. To reach that maximum, you’d have to opt for a Land Rover Defender 110 and equip it with the optional third row, which seats two.

By contrast, the third row in the Land Rover Defender 130 seats up to three passengers. As a result, the maximum Land Rover Defender seating capacity swells to eight: two in the first row, three in the second, and three in the third!

Both the second and third-row seats will fold flat, allowing you to strike the right balance between passenger and cargo space when you’re out in Rumson or Colts Neck. Plus, all of the features from the 2022 Land Rover Defender interior will carry over into the new model.

Land Rover Defender Cargo Space: More Length & More Volume

In a Land Rover Defender 110 with third row seats, there’s roughly 70.4 inches separating the tailgate from the first row seats. As a result, this model can accommodate up to 69.0 cubic feet of cargo space with both rows of rear seating laid flat—but it only offers 10.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, which can leave it a little bit crowded when you’re traveling with passengers.

The 2023 Land Rover Defender 130 uses the same wheelbase as the Defender 110—but the former is thirteen inches longer from end to end, and early all of that extra space will be used to expand the Defender’s cargo area. Although final specs are not yet available, it’s reasonable to expect something like 25 cubic feet of cargo behind the last row of Land Rover Defender seats.
