Land Rover & Range Rover Electric Vehicles

range rover phev

Driving a Land Rover is all about living without compromise. After all, these SUVs offer a unique combination of capability and luxury. Now that more and more Land Rover and Range Rover electric vehicles are reaching Rumson, those with a preference for efficient SUVs have one more major reason to celebrate.

Range Rover Hybrid Fuel Economy

Land Rover plug-in hybrid vehicles offer the best fuel economy available in any of this brand’s vehicles. The Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport are both available in plug-in hybrid configurations, and these genuine Range Rover electric vehicles certainly do not disappoint:

  • Range Rover Hybrid MPG – The plug-in hybrid P440e powertrain is offered on the Range Rover SE trim level. Parallel Driving mode allows gas and electric power to work together to move you forward, but final EPA-estimated fuel economy has not yet been released. The plug-in hybrid Range Rover even achieves a 5.5-second 0-60 time.
  • Range Rover Sport Hybrid MPG – Here, the P400e is offered on the Autobiography trim level. This model’s EPA-estimated MPGe specs haven’t been released yet, but you can expect a similar rating–along with a 5.5-second 0-60 time.

Wondering how these specs compare? Explore fuel economy for the rest of the Range Rover lineup today.

Land Rover Plug-In Hybrid Technology

The latest Land Rover Plug-In Hybrid powertrain is the P440e. Like all plug-in hybrid systems, this technology combines the reliable utility of a gasoline-powered engine with the efficiency that only electric vehicles can offer. Here’s what you should keep in mind if you’re considering one of the Land Rover brand’s hybrid cars:

  • The P440e combines a signature Ingenium engine with a 141-hp electric motor and a 31.8-kWh battery. On a full charge, the system offers an all-electric range of up to 48 miles.
  • Most drivers will spend the majority of their time in a Parallel Hybrid driving mode, which puts the engine and the motor to work simultaneously.
  • The P440e delivers a total power output of 434 hp. What’s more, you’ll still enjoy all of the off-road capabilities that make a Land Rover a Land Rover.

Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicles from Land Rover

Not yet convinced that a plug-in EV is right for you? The lineup of Land Rover hybrid SUVs also includes many models with “mild-hybrid” powertrains, which deliver enhanced fuel economy without requiring an electric vehicle home charger. Here’s a quick overview of your options in the latest model year:

  • Range Rover – The base model and the Range Rover Westminster Edition both come standard with mild-hybrid powertrains. The former receives a P360 I6, while the latter has a P400 I6.
  • Range Rover Sport – The Range Rover Sport SE and the Range Rover Sport HSE both come standard with mild-hybrid powertrains. The Range Rover Sport HSE Silver Edition can be optioned with an MHEV powertrain, too.
  • Range Rover Velar – The Range Rover Velar S and the Range Rover Velar R-DYNAMIC S offer optional P340 I6 MHEV powertrains. The Velar R-DYNAMIC HSE receives a standard P400 MHEV.
  • Range Rover Evoque – The Evoque doesn’t offer a mild-hybrid powertrain at this time, but since it runs on the smaller side, it’s still an efficient choice.
  • Land Rover Discovery Sport – As with the Evoque, all models currently receive a standard P250 I4.
  • Land Rover Discovery – The Land Rover Discovery doesn’t offer a mild-hybrid powertrain, but it does offer a TD6 Diesel engine that will appeal to efficiency-conscious drivers.
  • Land Rover Defender – The newest Land Rover SUV offers a wide range of configurations with mild-hybrid powertrains! Choose the Defender 110 SE, the Defender 110 HSE, the Defender 110 X, or the Defender 110 First Edition to receive a 3.0L I6 Turbocharged MHEV. The Defender 90 First Edition is an MHEV too.

How to Prep Your Home for an EV

Before you bring your new EV home to Point Pleasant, you need to have the means to charge it. For the vast majority of EV owners, this means installing an electric vehicle home charger. Here’s what you should know as you prepare your home for an electric vehicle:

  • Your electric vehicle charging station should use a Level 2 charger. For this level of electric vehicle charging, batteries can be fully charged in a few hours — and most EV owners find it most convenient to charge up overnight.
  • You’ll need to hire an electrician and have your electric vehicle charging station professionally installed. They can assess your household’s electricity usage and tell you whether your distribution panel needs an upgrade in order to support an electric vehicle home charger.

Uncover the Benefits of Electric Cars Today

The environmental benefits of electric cars simply can’t be matched by any other type of vehicle, even hybrids. While hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles run on a combination of gasoline and electric power, electric cars use no fossil fuels at all—so they emit close to zero tailpipe emissions. It’s hard to beat that kind of efficiency!

Still, efficiency is just one among many benefits of electric vehicles. Drivers across Colts Neck are giving up on gasoline for reasons that go well beyond the environmental benefits of electric cars:

  • A quieter ride. As soon as you settle into the cabin, you’ll notice this often-unsung benefit of electric cars! Without an engine churning under the hood, it’s easier for you to appreciate your favorite albums and for your passengers to get some rest.
  • Less maintenance. Many EV owners love the maintenance-related benefits of electric cars most of all. EVs have fewer parts and components, so there’s less to maintain and that can go wrong. That’s great news for drivers, who get to spend less time and money on vehicle upkeep.
  • Instant torque. Perhaps one of the most surprising benefits of electric vehicles is that they can accelerate more rapidly than many gas-powered models! That’s because single-speed EV transmissions are able to access all of the vehicle’s power in the instant you put your foot on the accelerator.
