Land Rover, a founding member of the Tread Lightly!® organization, takes an active role in instructing drivers about the most environmentally responsible off-roading techniques. Our corporate sanctioned off-road code offers travelers helpful guidelines, such as:
- Be aware of travel regulations in different countries
- Always seek permission to cross private lands and stick to existing routes
- Drive carefully to minimize erosion and avoid environmental damage
- Driving "as slow as possible and as fast as necessary" is our motto
- Engage the difflock, if available, on low-traction surfaces to minimize wheel spin
- Fully prepare your vehicle for the journey with tools and supplies
- Use eco-friendly cleaning materials, washing vehicles away from water sources
- Respect the peace and tranquility of others in your travels
- Do a safety check when preparing to get back on the road
