Steve Diehlman writing for the online news magazine Automobilemag.com thinks it may be true that the folks at Land Rover are working on another new model. As he put it, “Last month, Land Rover revealed its new entry-level Evoque two-door SUV, but a recent report states the British automaker may be in the midst of preparing yet another addition to the lineup.
According to Autocar.com and Automobilemag.com reports, Land Rover is hard at work readying a new model to fit in just above the new Evoque and below the Range Rover Sport. The plan may be part of an initiative by Land Rover CEO Ralf Septh and Tata boss Carl-Peter Forster to expand the brand's lineup and deliver more vehicles.
Many Land Rover officials believe a new model could be just as popular as its new Evoque, revealed just last month. Although the vehicle has yet to be made public, rumors suggest it may include a third row for additional seating.
Though it has yet to go on sale, the Evoque's lower cost of entry -- when compared to other Land Rover models -- is expected to draw more buyers to the brand. Should Land Rover craft a vehicle to fit between the two, it may sticker for around $55,000, between the Range Rover Sport's starting price of $60,495 and the Evoque's expected $45,000 sticker. It is believed that this pricing strategy will also allow the Range Rover Sport to move upmarket,” concluded Diehlman.
Land Rover just reported a 26-percent U.S. sales increase for July, its tenth consecutive month of increased sales. With the addition of the Evoque, however, as well as a possible new model, many automotive experts have voiced concern for possible overcrowding within Land Rover's lineup.
Does Land Rover have room for another vehicle in its lineup? We’re betting yes!
