Restored Vintage Land Rover
Up for Auction in Time for Holiday Gifting

ORVIS, the quintessential American luxury outdoor goods purveyors and outfitters of Manchester, VT, have what they believe will be the hot ticket item on some lucky folk's gift list this holiday season, a completely refurbished and an extremely rare 1966 Land Rover Series IIA Model 109 Station Wagon.
The trusted companion of a National Geographic photojournalist, this 1966 Land Rover has traveled the world—including an expedition to Scotland on a search for the elusive Loch Ness monster in 1976. Other destinations include an Alpine Pass rally in Switzerland in 1969; a trek to Victoria Peak, Hong Kong in 1970, and a wilderness expedition in Israel in 1975. The stories of these travels are an indelible facet of this special vehicle, yet the rigors of decades of hard-earned miles have been erased by Land Rover restoration specialist Lanny Clark.
This Land Rover station wagon has undergone a complete frame-off restoration resulting in a vehicle that is prepared to take on another 45 years of adventures with the legendary, sure-footed aplomb that has made Land Rover synonymous with true adventure. Powered by the 2.25-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine, it features the vented, tropical roof and seating for 10.
The vehicle has been fully restored by a fellow named Lanny Clark, rumored to be a man of remarkable reputation in Land Rover circles, who devotes himself full-time to the restoration of these timeless vehicles on his farm in Vermont.
Most restorations use aftermarket parts, but this car was fully restored by Clark with original parts, making it an even more rare and practically irreplaceable vehicle. This car is a 10-seater with a tropical roof.
This one-of-a-kind vintage vehicle, part of the 2011 Orvis Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide, is featured prominently in the store's Christmas Catalog and on their website. Definitely something for the discerning Land Rover aficionado on your gift list this season. This unique vintage Land Rover is being offered through ORVIS via an online auction. Bidding on this Landy starts at only $1,000, but last year's went for well over $100,000.. The auction is set to end on the night of December 11, 2011.
