MAHWAH, NJ, OCTOBER 11, 2010 – Land Rover North America received top honors this week at the annual Mudfest competition held by the Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA) with the 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged capturing the SUV of the Year title, along with the Best Luxury SUV award. The 2011 Land Rover LR4 was also praised for its capabilities and won the Best Off-Road SUV accolade.

The Northwest Sport Utility Vehicle of the Year Competition, most commonly known as Mudfest, is an annual event bringing journalists from the Pacific Northwest and the latest in off-road vehicles together for two days of testing. Each vehicle is tested on- and off-road and scored on performance, handling, and braking. Each vehicle is assigned a category in addition to competing for the overall SUV/CUV of the Year. The four categories: affordable, family, luxury, and off-road are organized so that each SUV is evaluated against similar vehicles. The SUV of the Year award is determined by compiling the journalists' overall scores.

For 2010, the Range Rover Sport – puts even more emphasis on driving dynamics over prior model years. The vehicle’s stylish new appearance signals a transformation under the skin. The V8 naturally aspirated develops 375 bhp and 375 lb.-ft. of torque, while the V8 5.0-liter Supercharged engine cranks out a towering 510 bhp and 461 lb.-ft. of torque. Inside, enhanced levels of interior craftsmanship and refinement greet the occupants and significant changes to both on-road and off-road driving dynamics improve the drive, wherever it may be.

New for 2011, enhancements to the Terrain Response™ system bolster the Land Rover LR4’s already considerable off-road capability, while new and reconfigured option packages enhance luxury and value.
