Land Rover North America is pleased to announce that the new 2010 LR4 has been recognized as the 2010 Active Lifestyle Vehicle Luxury Off-Road winner for the first time, but Land Rover's third time overall. With a powerful and highly-efficient new 5.0-liter, 375-hp V8 engine, as well as improved driving dynamics and an all-new interior, this Land Rover is recognized as one of the most versatile SUVs available. An official award handover with Carspondent.com, ALV's official website for the competition, will take place during the 2009 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show, which opens for Press Previews on December 2, 2009 and to the public on December 4, 2009.
"Winning the Active Lifestyle award for the third time is quite meaningful to Land Rover as our LR4 is targeted directly at the luxury active lifestyle," said Chris Marchand, Executive Vice President of Marketing & Sales for Land Rover North America. "With the new LR4 we can confidently say that it can overcome almost any terrain or situation, in complete luxury."
Sponsored by the Automobile Association of America and the Active Network, the Active Lifestyle Awards are now in their sixth year and recognize new cars and trucks that best meet the needs of active buyers.
A panel of two dozen San Diego-area athletes and twelve automotive journalists cast their votes after careful examination of 20 manufacturer vehicles that participated in the 2010 competition. The LR4's class-leading breadth of capability in both on-road and off-road driving excelled during performance tests. These tests included a 30-minute course featuring a mix of freeway driving, hills, speed bumps and curves. Plenty of cargo space, roof racks, bike transport systems, towing capabilities and other active lifestyle features were considered necessary criteria while testing each vehicle.
