Defenders for the Faithful?

Well Defenders for North America's faithful Land Rover enthusiasts that is, are rather hard to come by these days.

Since 1997, when a change in US Federal Regulations took effect, no new model years of the Defender line have come upon America's shores.  Due to the revised Federal regs, it is impossible to import any new vehicles beyond the 1997 model year without them being suitably equipped with front airbags.  Due to the extensive re-tooling and manufacturing requirements, the ability to fit Defenders with front airbags at the factory make the endeavor too cost prohibitive even for consideration presently.

Defenders are much sought after these days by North American Land Rover enthusiasts, and it isn't unusual to hear of well-maintained vehicles selling second-hand for more money than they originally cost to buy new!
