The day, designated as Colts Neck Recreation & Parks Day, saw many honored guests invited to the match who were members of the Colts Neck Recreation and Parks Committee. Chairman of the committee, Jim Valenti, threw in the first ball in a ceremonial toss to initiate match play.
Despite adverse weather conditions yesterday's match of Colts Neck Polo's Team Land Rover Monmouth vs. Blue Sky Polo went on as scheduled. Blue Sky Polo ran the field and won the match 13 - 6.
Rain held off until the third chukker. At halftime tailgaters, including all the adorable children attending, were given grass seed packets to help re-seed the field. Throughout the match conditions of the field remained safe for both players and their mounts. The match continued until a full six chukkers were played despite the steady rain.
Yet again, despite some weather, a great day was had by all at Colts Neck Polo and charity was served. And, a reminder, if you haven't yet, mark your calendars for Sunday, June 27th's TAILGATE CONTEST. Land Rover Monmouth will be awarding some great prizes for the best tailgate set-ups.
